In Her Image
Our genes form a map of connections, not only physically, but even in the tiniest of gestures….the turn of a head, the gesture of a walk, the sound of a voice, even a way of being. We are products, in part, of ancestry, and, directly, of our physical parents. Sitting together, a mother and daughter are almost identical imprints of one another. In ways we can be very different, and those differences help establish our individual person hood. Yet, in other ways, we carry a special bonding that often becomes even more pronounced with time. Someone says, “You look just like your mother!” And so you do. The similarity is striking…a compliment to the finer aspects of our bond as parent and child.
