 String-taut tensions caused by the wind surge down through the fragile line and the kite above is like a harnessed dragon that almost lifts us off our feet.  Impulsively, to keep the dragon hungry, we run against the wind while above us the paper or fabric sings like the sail of a ship fighting heavy seas or the tense wingtips of an early airship struggling to rise over sandy dunes. I can almost feel it lifting me now as its fragile spars bend into the breeze….and the ocean waves below, or the waves of rollicking grass, are as ripples; I can see the edge of Earth from here and am giddy to stay suspended.
